THIS TIME I ASKED IF WE WERE GOING TO DO A TEST HOLE AND SCOTT AND DAN SAID NO, THEY WERE POSITIVE THAT THIS WAS A GOOD PIT!  WE CLEARED A FIVE BY FIVE SQUARE ABOUT A FOOT AND A HALF DEEP TO UNCOVER THE ASH LAYER AND AWAY WE WENT!

SCOTT WAS THE FIRST TO START INTO THE HOLE (LEFT)

THE REST OF US WERE STANDING AROUND AND WATCHING HIM FINISH CLEANING THE HOLE TO HIS SATISFATION.

AFTER HE HAD IT WHERE HE WANTED IT HE STARTED SCRAPING AROUND AND NOT MORE THAN A COUPLE MINUTES LATER HE HELD UP THE BROKEN REMAINS OF A HISTORICAL FRIENDSHIP FLASK

I HAD NEVER EVEN SEEN A PIECE OF ONE OF THESE AND I WAS NOW MORE THAN EXCITED!

NOT MORE THAN A COUPLE MINUTES AFTER HE FINISHED RETRIEVING THE BROKEN SHARDS FROM THE FLASK THAN HE UNCOVERED THE CORNER OF A SEMI-CABIN BITTERS!

UNFORTUNATELY THIS ONE WAS BROKEN ALSO, IT WAS A DOYLES HOPS BITTERS BUT NOT ANY ORDINARY ONE!  IT WAS A MISPRINT WITH DOYLES PRINTED UPSIDE DOWN IN ERROR!  MAN THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN SWEET!

EVEN AFTER READING ALL OF THE STORIES OF WHAT THESE GUYS FIND I COULDN'T BELIEVE THESE KINDS OF PIECES IN THE FIRST SIX INCHES OF THIS PIT!

WHAT ELSE WOULD COME OUT OF IT?
